EL Teacher

Position:English Learner (EL) Teacher Location:Stacy Middle School Schedule:2026-2027 School Year Salary:Per Teachers’ Contract To Start: August 24, 2026 (plus, two additional days) Qualifications: ●Massachusetts certification as a teacher in English as a Second Language (PreK-6) and/or (5-12), required ●Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Core-Content Frameworks and WIDA 2020 ELD Standards ●Knowledge of second language learning and sheltering content, Massachusetts standards-based ESL Curriculum Units, standard and alternative methods of assessment, and data-driven instruction ●WIDA ACCESS Test Administrator: Online and Alternate ●Demonstrated ability to co-teach in the SEI classroom: course work and/or experience in co-planning, co-teaching, co-assessment, and co-reflection with a Sheltered Content Immersion (SCI) core-academic teacher ●Extensive coursework completion in teaching reading/literacy skills to students at the middle school level ●Experience working with Students with Limited and/or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) and English learner-students with disabilities (ELSWD) ●Training and experience in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) ●Excellent computer/technology skills with the ability to utilize various computer software and app programs (student database: Aspen, Google Suite, Ellevation, iReady, TalkingPoints, Clever, etc.) ●Committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic and linguistic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap ●Deep understanding in the advancement of cultural proficiency, equity, diversity, and inclusion in classroom and school environments ●A self-reflective, active learner capable of interactive dialogue with all members of the school community ●A positive person, willing to become involved in the academic and social aspects of school life ●Bilingual: Spanish and/or Portuguese, preferred Duties & Responsibilities: ●Teach English Language Development (ELD) to English Learners (ELs) in a self-contained ESL classroom and/or co-teach in Sheltered Content Immersion (SCI) classrooms ●Teach explicit ELD to dually identified ELSWD students at varying English Proficiency levels, aligned to WIDA Can Dos ●Develop and refine in-district ESL content-integrated curriculum maps, aligned to MA Frameworks and WIDA 2020 Standards. ●Assessment administration, including WIDA ACCESS, in-district progress monitoring assessments, and involvement in MCAS administration of ELs ●Administer EL department common progress monitoring assessments and adjust practice to ensure student growth in the four domains of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing ●Develop, implement, and consistently monitor language goals and objectives for students, specifically students on an ELSP, following the English learner frameworks and keep parents informed about student language development progress ●Communicate regularly with EL families via email, face-to-face meetings, and communication apps (i.e. TalkingPoints) and participate in school-based parent engagement events ●Collaborate with EL Coordinator/building administration on budget and purchase orders on the instruction of ELs ●Partner with the EL Coordinator to implement English Learner Success Plan (ELSP) goals with students who have not made adequate progress and monitor the students’ success toward ELSP goals. ●Work with the IEP Team and Special Education Team Chair to discuss ELSWD culturally and linguistically relevant IEP development, accommodations, and modifications, aligned to EL’s language proficiency level and disability. Suggest the appropriate WID ACCESS accommodations for the ELSWD’s IEP. ●Provide a safe and respectful learning environment that fosters social and emotional competencies and empowers multilingual students to be skilled and competent communicators who actively participate as leaders in their school community ●Ability to actively collaborate with other members of the department and team.
