Position Summary: The DSM is responsible for overseeing the sales operations within an assigned district. This role involves recruiting, hiring, and managing district sales representatives, ensuring the achievement of financial and business growth objectives, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The District Sales Manager serves as a key leader in implementing sales strategies and fostering a high-performing and high-service sales team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Team Recruitment & Development
- Identify needs and lead the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring process for district sales representatives. Work with the recruiter to find candidates.
- Provide training, mentorships, and ongoing development to sales representatives
- Monitor individual and team performance, addressing any gaps through coaching and action plans.
- Facilitate regular team meetings to communicate company objectives, share best practices, and resolve challenges.
- Sales Performance Management
- Develop and implement district sales plans and strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets.
- Monitor sales metrics and analyze performance data
- Collaborate with sales representatives to identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and expanding customer accounts
- Customer and Market Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers within the district
- Identify growth opportunities and assess competition
- Ensure all activities align with company policies, standards, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in sales, with at least 2 in a leadership or management role
- Experience in the food distribution or related industry is highly preferred
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans
- Knowledge of food distribution industry trends and customer needs
- Ability to travel within the district as needed
- Valid Driver’s license
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
- Occasionally lift items up to approximately 30 pounds
