What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graduate Engineer position at Wood County Electric Cooperative?
Assist the Director of Engineering in the development and implementation of WCEC’s SCADA system and substation maintenance and interoperability. Assists in interpreting system studies for current development of the system improvement; to plan and design distribution of the facilities, including the making of drawings, the preparation of material breakdown and the preparation of staking sheets in regard to lines, transformer banks, substations, OCRs, capacitors, and related construction; to prepare system studies and sectionalizing studies. Coordinate with and supervise contractors to assist in system maintenance and design. Assisting with maintaining and improving upon the Geographic Information System (GIS). Establishing engineering standards to be applied in maintaining adequate construction resources, in effective maintenance, and in high quality power service to members.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: BSEE from an accredited college or university is required. Affirmative action towards registering as a Professional Engineer is required. Must communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
Training: A working knowledge of electric power distribution theory, design, construction, operations, and maintenance.
Desired Skills: Electrical System Modeling and Analysis, Programming and Scripting, Data Analysis and Interpretation, Communication, Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting. Able to interpret maps, graphs, and charts. Must be skilled at writing effective technical reports.
Miscellaneous: Must maintain a valid Class “C” driver’s license; Being a member of IEEE, TSPE, or NSPE is desired.
Testing: Must pass any required substance screening and background checks.
