Middle School History:
WISH Community School is seeking an exceptional Middle History teacher to teach 6th and 7th grade Social Studies. 6th Grade Standards cover Ancient World History, including the Stone Ages and the civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Israel, India, China, Greece, and Rome. 7th Grade Standard covers Medieval World History, including the fall of the Roman Empire, European Feudalism, Islamic Empires, Empires of West Africa, Imperial China, Imperial Japan, and civilizations of the Americas.
The successful candidate will be passionate about educating a diverse student body within a whole scholar approach to teaching and learning. Candidates must also exemplify a growth mindset, demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and maintain a positive, professional demeanor. Experience with and commitment to working collaboratively with staff, parents, and the greater community is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities: This position reports to the Middle School principal and Executive Director. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Plan, prepare, and deliver 6th and 7th History lessons as well as prepare teaching materials individually and collaboratively

Help facilitate student participation in National History Day projects across the whole school, with some students choosing to compete against other schools

Help organize and facilitate student participation in Walk Through the Ancient World, an in-school field trip experience, in conjunction with California Weekly.

Utilize different instructional strategies based on student needs

Develop and utilize various assessments to guide student instruction

Maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment

Ability to use basic computer applications, interactive boards and other classroom and academic technologies

Participate in staff development

Participate in SST and IEP meetings

Participate in grade-level and department meetings
-
Communicate with support staff, administrators, team teachers and parents about student progress

Complete and update paperwork/online platforms to ensure that student records are current

Complete and facilitate adjunct duties as needed

Desires to work closely with students, colleagues and community in modeling and teaching the values of WISH Charter Schools
Minimum Requirements: Single-subject Social Studies/History credential
