Advises and counsels students regarding academic, educational, and short-term social and emotional problems.

Remains universally accessible and makes an effort to know every student for whom they are responsible.

Provides individual student planning and responsive services to support students and their families regarding academic matters.

Responsible for creating 6-8th grade student schedules and oversee changes throughout the year according to placement and individual student needs
-
Teaches guidance classes and provides guidance counseling to students through planned activities in small group or classroom settings to convey educational, social, and important school information, and offers workshops/seminars for parents.

Provides professional development to teachers and staff.

Consults, facilitates, and maintains communication with parents, teachers, administrators, and pertinent agents on specific student and parent academic and educational matters including academic modifications and/or accommodations.

Coordinates, facilities, and manage all student 504 plans
-
Provides feedback and recommends appropriate action and solutions to individual student’s academic and educational needs and abilities.

Assists students/parents in understanding school policies and procedures.
-
Provides brief counseling to address social and emotional concerns and appropriately refers students to behavioral health specialists.

Support student and families in reaching culmination
-
Manage culmination requirements of 6-8th grade students: community service, academic points, and grades
-
Leads community education night one time per year on social emotional development
-
Provides session on counseling role and social emotional development during meet and greet for families
-
Develops and leads mini-lessons and staff development on social-emotional responsivity (including culture, race, identity, problem-solving, Naviance, restorative practices, council, Ruler, etc.)

Communicates, coordinates, and collaborates with behavioral health specialists on developing and implementing student supports.

Maintains and adheres to schedule, including office hours for students, restorative practices, counseling services for DIS, report writing, assessments

Conducts summer workshop for rising 12th graders for college applications
-
Supports, and attends appropriate student activities and events.

Sets up routines and systems in the office for ordileness, including systems for materials received, lost and found, resources, waiting procedures, copy machine procedures, chromebook procedures

Assist parents, guests, students, faculty and staff with understanding rules, procedures, and obtaining tools (tables, etc.) that may be needed for special events or WISH cafe

Assists with organzing and maintaining areas assigned (in and outside of the counseling office, including picking up rubbish, organizing materials, making the materials organized, presentable, and tidy at all times

Creates a positive school culture by greeting others, maintaining a positive attitude, finding effective solutions, and collaborating joyfully with others to ensure excellence in all areas of school programming

Participates in staff development activities as appropriate.
