About the Firm
Winkler Immigration Law is an established immigration law firm representing individuals and families in a wide range of immigration matters, including asylum, removal defense, family-based immigration, waivers, federal litigation, and appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney who is interested in developing substantial litigation and courtroom experience while working directly with clients and making a meaningful impact in their lives.
This position offers significant responsibility from day one and is ideal for an attorney who wants to build real advocacy skills, rather than remain limited to administrative or support work.
Position Overview
The Associate Attorney will manage a caseload of immigration matters and represent clients before immigration courts, USCIS, ICE, and other government agencies. The attorney will work closely with experienced support staff and will have the opportunity to handle increasingly complex matters as experience develops.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in Immigration Court proceedings
- Conduct master calendar and merits hearings
- Prepare and file asylum applications, motions, briefs, and appeals
- Attend USCIS interviews and other agency appointments
- Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case strategy and case status
- Review filings prepared by support staff
- Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals to ensure timely case preparation
- Assist with federal court litigation when appropriate
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
- Strong writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and maintain attention to detail
- Professionalism and strong interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Prior immigration law experience
- Immigration Court experience
- Spanish, French, Fulani, or other language proficiency
- Experience handling asylum or removal defense matters

Work Environment
This position is primarily in-person at our Center City Philadelphia office, with regular court appearances in the Philadelphia, New York City, and Newark immigration courts. Travel costs and related expenses are reimbursed by the firm.
