Mental Health Direct Support Professional (DSP) – $24.46/hr

Are you someone who brings compassion, patience, and calm to individuals navigating mental illness or emotional distress? Wingspan is seeking dedicated Mental Health DSPs to support adults living in Specialized Services homes in Bloomington & Richfield.
As a Mental Health DSP, you will play an essential role in creating safety, belonging, and purpose for the people you support. You’ll partner with individuals on crisis-prevention strategies, daily living skills, social and community engagement, and supporting them through their hardest moments with dignity.
DSP Schedule, Location, Pay
Schedules Available:
Full-Time and Part-Time positions are available. All roles include at least one weekend day.
Location: Bloomington & Richfield
Pay Rate: $24.46 per hour

What You'll Do
In this role, you will:
- Support individuals with mental illness using trauma-informed practices and least-restrictive intervention
- Assist with daily life routines (personal care, cooking, housekeeping, community access, socializing, transportation)
- Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and personal choice
- Implement individualized crisis/stabilization plans and support emotional regulation
- Document support provided using measurable, factual data
- Maintain safety, provide supervision, and respond promptly and therapeutically to crises
- Follow all Wingspan policies, licensing, and DHS regulations
Requirements — What You Bring
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Must be comfortable with personal cares (bathing, showering, brushing teeth, etc.) for male & female clients
- Ability to clearly communicate, read, and write in English
- Comfort using a computer and completing documentation
- Successful background check as required by the Department of Human Services
- A strong sense of compassion and desire to help individuals feel safe, valued, and supported
Preferred:
- 1 year experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or mental illness
- Experience working with autism
- Knowledge of LGBTQ community needs
- Degree or coursework in Psychology, Social Work, or Human Services
