Qualifications:
3-5 years bookkeeping experience;
Minimum high school diploma (post-secondary education preferred);
Excellent computer & database skills; and
Excellent customer service skills.
Essential Functions:
Serve as a liaison between the Finance Department and School Administrators and School Bookkeepers. Work involves, training new bookkeepers. Reviewing and verifying for accuracy monthly receipts and disbursement reports received from all schools. Notifying school bookkeepers when errors are found and advising a method for correcting these errors in order for schools to be in compliance with auditing guidelines. Preparing routine correspondences, compiling information for reports; and maintaining the school based accounting database. This position is the primary person to fill-in at schools when a bookkeeper is on extended leave.
Schedule routine meetings with the Finance Director and school bookkeepers to report any revisions or updates to the Wilson County Accounting Manual, and to review and answer any questions they may have in regards to annual audit reports.
Prepare and maintain the accuracy of the Wilson County Accounting Manual, insuring it is consistent and in compliance with the requirements of the Department of Education Internal School Uniform Accounting Policy Manual.
Prepare and maintain inventory listings for all facilities and departments of all fixed assets, such as land, buildings, machinery, equipment, construction in progress, and infrastructures as determined to be tracked by the Board of Education.
Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time, 12-month (260 days) assignment with insurance and retirement benefits. Salary will be determined by comparable work experience and placement on Grade 7 of the Salaried Classified Salary Schedule. Salary will be no less than $43,906 per year.
