Job Summary
The Intern develops a broad understanding of model risk management while performing duties designed to support the company’s goals. This position teaches the purpose, design, and assumptions of existing models, replicates model calculations, helps with test controls, and helps with validation efforts such as research and documentation. The Intern learns fundamental risk management terms and processes while helping with daily initiatives. This position reports to the Model Risk Analyst and provides excellent service and support to team members and customers while demonstrating the Company’s values and supporting the mission.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Learn the purpose, design, and assumptions of existing models
- Review model documentation including method, data, limitations, use, etc.
- Map model inputs, outputs, and dependencies
- Replicate model calculations in Excel, Python, R, or SAS
- Conduct research on academic findings, industry best practice, and regulatory expectations
- Perform sensitivity analysis and reasonableness checks
- Compare model outputs against benchmarks or challenger approaches
- Assess data quality, transformations, and lineage
- Assist with test controls around model execution and reporting
- Support ongoing model monitoring metrics
- Draft or update validation workpapers
- Assist with regulatory or audit-ready documentation
- Observe validation reviews and challenge sessions
- Gain exposure to SR 11‑7–style governance or equivalent
- Learn how model risk ties to capital, earnings, and decision-making
- Attend training as requested
- Adhere to compliance with all federal bank regulations and laws, including those for consumer protection and the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Program
- Participate in outside community activities as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Currently enrolled in a college/university degree program as a junior, senior, or graduate-level student
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and other standard software applications
- Understanding of basic statistics and econometrics
- Ability to read formulas and code logically
- Strong writing and summarization skills
- Intellectual curiosity and experience asking “why” and “what if” questions

- Ability to develop and maintain working knowledge of Bank products, services, policies, procedures, and systems
