What are the responsibilities and job description for the Museum Guest Relations position at Wilmington Railroad Museum?
The Wilmington Railroad Museum is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated, high-energy team member with strong communication and service skills to join the Museum Gift Shop and Ticket Office. We are looking for someone who likes working with the public and has good common sense and cash handling experience. MUST BE WILLING TO COMMIT TO WORKING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAY EVENTS. IDEAL POSITION FOR A RETIRED OR SEMI-RETIRED INDIVIDUAL.
Responsibilities:
- Operate the cash register
- Make cash, check, and credit card sales
- Assist customers with information
- Excellence in customer service
- Take special orders and route mailing requests to manager
- Update point-of-sale inventory
- Restock, assist in merchandising and display, and cleaning and straightening of shelves
- Accurately close out, count money, make sales reports, and deposits at end of day
- Light housekeeping of the gift shop and restrooms
- Acts as supervisor when manager is unavailable
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Must have cash handling and retail experience.
- Good communications and interpersonal skills
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to perform light lifting, climb ladder and physically able to stand for long periods
Education and Experience:
- Some college
- One or more years’ experience in sales and customer service
- Interest in history desirable
