Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Intern — Part-Time
Atlanta, GA | ~15–25 hours/week
Willmer Engineering is growing! We’re seeking a motivated CMT Intern to support our Atlanta team. This is a perfect role for students in their final semester of a civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering degree. Training provided, with the potential for a full-time offer after graduation based on performance and business needs.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and aggregates on active job sites.
- Help set up/tear down equipment, collect/label samples, and complete clear field notes in mobile apps.
- Communicate observations to project engineers and contractors.
- Support special inspections and site assessments as assigned.
Note: Certain equipment (e.g., nuclear density gauge) requires specific training/certification; interns assist until qualified.
What You Bring
- Currently in your final semester of a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or related).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation in metro Atlanta.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work outdoors in varied conditions.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
- Certifications (NICET I/II, ACI Concrete I, Radiation Safety) preferred, not required—we provide paid training for the right candidate.
- DOT project exposure is a plus.
Pay & Perks
- Hourly, non-exempt with overtime eligibility.
