This position schedules drivers to make deliveries and product pick-ups, communicates with customers to record details about shipments, arrange pick-up times, and set driver routes.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop delivery routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day
- Communicate with management to modify daily routes to accommodate the needs of customers
- Act as a communication liaison between the customer and the driver
- Cultivate strong relationships with drivers and customers to reduce the stress that comes with last minute schedule changes
- Monitor any sudden route changes, road conditions or road construction issues and work with drivers to establish new routes for timely deliveries
- Ensure driver knows how much product to be pulling
- Make sure driver knows what product he/she should be pulling
- Use Samsara to track drivers and dispatch effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent follow-through
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Timeliness and promptness with scheduling and dispatching.
- Ability to think quickly and make necessary changes to routes and schedules.
- Show initiative to continue learning and develop skills.
- Uphold Dooley’s Petroleum Inc.’s policies and procedures to meet company standards.
- Evening and a rotating weekend schedule
- 3-5 years of dispatching experience
- Prior use of Samsara e-log software preferred
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
