What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition and Wellness Teacher, Upward Bound Program position at Wilkes University?
Wilkes University invites applicants for an open Nutrition and Wellness teaching position in the Upward Bound program. Upward Bound is a federally funded Trio program, which provides support to high school students in career exploration and their preparation for college; ultimately, in their higher education pursuits.
The successful candidate is responsible for implementing the academic component of the program by means of experiential and play-based learning. The ideal candidate will enhance students' nutritional knowledge, SEL, and physical knowledge/activity/practices by challenging them to use critical thinking and practical problem-solving skills, as well as other workplace readiness skills. A Bachelor's degree in Education, Health & Wellness, or a related field is required.
Please note that this is only a part-time, temporary position with a competitive hourly wage. Dates run from June 22nd through July 31st, and classes are held twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays (1:15 P.M. – 2:30 P.M.).
