Seasonal/Part-Time Morning Cook

Wild Oats is a fast paced café, bakery and market in Brunswick that specializes in "real food made by real people." Even with hundreds of products, everything is still made from scratch, with the high quality ingredients. We are hiring Part Time/Seasonal Morning Cooks to join our team!

With our busy holiday season right around the corner, our seasonal position is the perfect flexible opportunity to work with your hands, enjoy a supportive and hard-working team, and create incredible from-scratch meals that will feed our community all season long!

From September through the end of December, you will have an opportunity to create wholesome take-home meals learning everything from making our burrito filling, and rolling burritos, to assembling and crimping our homemade chicken pot pies, to cooking quiche, and prepping fresh vegetables for our seasonal favorites. Whether you have some kitchen experience, or you are eager to learn-we are ready to train! This role will focus primarily on some specific seasonal product production, but will also support daily production needs and our Savory team in opening the bakery at 5:30am each day.

This position requires at least 20 hours of work each week, but up to 30 hours of work per week. Our ideal candidate is able to work from 5:30am to at least 10:30am. Some weekend availability is necessary. This position is available from September through the end of December. Eligibility for a full time position may be considered at the end of this period, though not guaranteed.

Your typical day might include

• Filling and crimping chicken pot pies
• Mixing our quiche liquid, and filling and baking quiche
• Preparing and cooking burrito fillings
• Assisting with soup vegetable preparation
• Preparing fresh green salads and deli salads each day
• Boxing and stickering finished products
• Prep and cleaning projects that keep the day running smoothly
• Helping cut down our environmental impact by reusing, recycling and composting when possible

What we need from you

• A love of food
• Some weekend availability

• Comfort standing and moving for most of a shift, and lifting up to 35 pounds

What we do not need

• Prior experience-we train!
• Full 8 hour shifts-we have flexibility.

How pay works

• Frequency: Weekly
• Base hourly: $18.00 to $21.00 an hour, depending on experience
• Our tip pool average per hour over the last 12 months: $3.32 per hour
• Expected Pay Range: $21.00 - $24.25
