Counter Staff at a Busy Bakery and Café

Wild Oats is a fast paced café, bakery and market in Brunswick that specializes in "real food made by real people." Even with hundreds of products, everything is still made from scratch, with the high quality ingredients. We are hiring full time and part time (24 plus hours a week), year round counter staff.

This is one job with three sections - cash area, coffee & pastries, and sandwiches.

Whether you are on the opening, middle or closing shifts, you might be pulling espresso shots, building sandwiches the Wild Oats way (ask any current or former employee, there IS a right way to make a sandwich), or running the Square cash register. Based on your availability and growth and our training resources, you will likely be trained on all three. We do not expect new hires to come with previous experience (although we will also gladly accept it)!

This job does not have specializations (i.e., being just the barista).

Your typical day might include

• Making sandwiches the "Wild Oats way"
• Whipping up delicious coffee drinks in our coffee area
• Running the register and taking care of customers at checkout
• Working with the rest of the counter team so every customer gets the best experience possible
• Prep and cleaning projects that keep the day running smoothly
• Helping cut down our environmental impact by reusing, recycling and composting when possible
• Bagging fresh baked bread (it smells SO good)

What we need from you

• Weekend availability. This is a requirement, not a preference
• At least 24 hours a week
• Reliable transportation to 166 Admiral Fitch Ave in Brunswick
• Comfort standing and moving for most of a shift, and lifting up to 35 pounds

What we do not need

• Prior café experience. We train.

How pay works

• Frequency: Weekly
• Base hourly: $15.25 to $17 an hour, depending on experience
• Our tip pool average per hour over the last 12 months: $5.71 per hour
• Expected Pay Range: $19.50 - $21.50
