This relaunch is meaningful — we're bringing back a trusted neighborhood hospital and building a brand-new team that cares deeply about pets, people, and each other.

About This Position
We are looking for a compassionate, attentive, and hard-working Kennel Technician to join our team as we reopen NVC Groves.
This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in excellent animal care, enjoys working hands-on with pets, and thrives in a supportive team environment.
You will play a key role in keeping our patients safe, clean, comfortable, and well-monitored — and be an important part of the foundation of this newly relaunched practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily feeding, watering, and enrichment for dogs and cats
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain kennels, runs, and hospital areas
- Walk, bathe, and comfort pets with patience and kindness
- Recognize animal body language, stress signals, and behavior changes
- Monitor pets closely and communicate concerns immediately to the medical team
- Assist with safe, gentle, low-stress restraint when needed
- Keep supplies, laundry, and common work areas clean and organized
- Support a positive, team-first environment as the practice rebuilds
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience working as a Kennel Technician or in professional animal care
- Strong animal-handling skills with confidence around dogs and cats
- Ability to identify basic animal body language and stress cues
- Highly attentive — quick to notice changes and communicate them
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to high-quality patient care
- Comfortable with cleaning, sanitation, and physical tasks
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and stay active throughout the day
- Positive attitude with a team-first mindset
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Fear Free knowledge or certification
- Experience assisting with low-stress handling or safe restraint
- Customer service experience
- Familiarity with working in a veterinary or shelter setting
Physical & Environmental Expectations
- Exposure to cleaning agents, noise, odors, pet waste
- Some exposure to bites, scratches, or zoonotic risks
- Ability to bend, scrub, stoop, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to walk and handle animals of all sizes
- Ability to work in various weather conditions when walking dogs
