Multi-Family Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The Multifamily Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the physical integrity and appearance of a multifamily apartment community. This includes performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and responding to resident service requests to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained living environment. We are looking for a self-starter to join our maintenance team working 40 hours a week with excellent job security.

Key Responsibilities:

• General MaintenanceRepairs:

  • Diagnose and perform routine maintenance and repair in units and common areas.

  • Tasks may include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, appliance repair, and more.

  • Ensure timely completion of all assigned work orders and maintenance tasks.

• Preventive Maintenance:

  • Conduct scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.

  • Monthly Preventative Maintenance inspections.

  • Identify potential issues before they become major problems.

• Turnover/Make-Ready:

  • Prepare vacant units for new residents, including cleaning, painting, and repairing.

  • Ensure units are ready on schedule and meet company standards.

• Emergency Maintenance:

  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, including after-hours or weekend calls if on-call.

  • Address safety hazards and mitigate damage in emergency situations.

• ComplianceSafety:

  • Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations.

  • Maintain knowledge of OSHA and building code requirements.

  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

• InventoryEquipment:

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in good condition.

  • Monitor inventory and request parts and materials as needed.

• CommunicationDocumentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed.

  • Communicate effectively with property management, residents, and vendors.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• 2 years of experience in apartment or facilities maintenance.

• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.

• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Must successfully pass background check process.

• On-call availability may be required.

Work Environment:

• Multifamily residential properties in Kalispell and Whitefish.

• Indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions.

• Use of ladders, power tools, and heavy equipment.
