Part-Time Maintenance Technician

50-Unit Apartment Community – Algona, Iowa

We are seeking a dependable, self-motivated Part-Time Maintenance Technician to assist with the maintenance and upkeep of a well-maintained 50-unit apartment community in Algona, Iowa. Position Overview

As the Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for completing maintenance requests, preparing apartments for new residents, performing preventive maintenance, and helping maintain the overall appearance of the property.

Schedule: Part-Time (approximately 20–25 hours per week with flexible scheduling)

Responsibilities

• Complete resident work orders promptly and professionally.

• Perform general maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and appliance repairs.

• Prepare vacant apartments for new move-ins, including repairs, painting, and cleaning coordination.

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance.

• Maintain the grounds, common areas, and building exterior.

• Assist with seasonal maintenance such as snow removal and lawn care coordination as needed.

• Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs when necessary.

• Maintain maintenance records and communicate effectively with the Property Manager.

• Respond to emergency maintenance calls as required.

Qualifications

• Previous apartment, building, or general maintenance experience preferred.

• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance repair.

• Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and work independently.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of the position.
