Engineering Lead

Overview

Provide engineering leadership for vessel design and construction projects, supporting engineering, production, and project teams from concept through sea trials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering and technical execution for assigned vessel projects
• Perform and review regulatory, class, and design calculations
• Design and review vessel systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, and outfitting)
• Develop and manage 3D models and production drawings
• Support production teams to maintain build schedule and resolve design issues
• Lead engineering reviews and coordinate with Project Management and Operations
• Manage and mentor engineers, designers, and subcontracted design agents
• Ensure drawings, documentation, and deliverables meet quality, schedule, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in shipyard visits, construction support, and sea trials

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
• 15 years of shipyard or boatbuilding experience (high-speed aluminum vessels preferred)
• Strong knowledge of ABS, USCG, IMO/SOLAS, ABYC, and related marine regulations
• Proficiency with Ship Constructor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino, and MS Office
• Experience managing engineering teams and subcontractors
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Preferred Experience:

• Custom or one-off vessel construction
• ERP and PDM systems
• Military or government vessel contracts
