Overview
Provide engineering leadership for vessel design and construction projects, supporting engineering, production, and project teams from concept through sea trials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering and technical execution for assigned vessel projects
- Perform and review regulatory, class, and design calculations
- Design and review vessel systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, and outfitting)
- Develop and manage 3D models and production drawings
- Support production teams to maintain build schedule and resolve design issues
- Lead engineering reviews and coordinate with Project Management and Operations
- Manage and mentor engineers, designers, and subcontracted design agents
- Ensure drawings, documentation, and deliverables meet quality, schedule, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in shipyard visits, construction support, and sea trials
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- 15 years of shipyard or boatbuilding experience (high-speed aluminum vessels preferred)
- Strong knowledge of ABS, USCG, IMO/SOLAS, ABYC, and related marine regulations
- Proficiency with Ship Constructor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino, and MS Office
- Experience managing engineering teams and subcontractors
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Preferred Experience:
- Custom or one-off vessel construction
- ERP and PDM systems
- Military or government vessel contracts
Salary : $118,000 - $148,000
