Ferry Operator

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and responsible Ferry Operator to join our team in Wicomico County Roads. In this vital role, you will be the key person responsible for safely and efficiently operating ferry vessels to transport passengers and vehicles across waterways. Your expertise will ensure smooth operations, uphold safety standards, and deliver exceptional service to our community. Duties

• Loading and unloading cars from ferries;
• Maintaining engines and hydraulic systems & checking engine fluids and fuel daily;
• Checking safety equipment;
• Maintaining fittings, cables, and rollers;
• Cleaning ferries & ferry houses;
• Communicating with the public
• Operating ferry cables for river traffic;
• Maintaining ferry logs; and
• Maintaining messages on the ferry hotline.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED;
• Boat operation experience; Excellent customer service & communication skills;
• Ability to work long daily shifts;
• MD Driver's License Class C or better with good driving record;
• Successful completion of Maryland Department of Natural Resources Boater Safety Course.
• Must pass background check and drug screening.
• A comparable amount of experience & training may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Pay: $41, $43,050.00 per year
