Duties
- Receiving, forwarding, and handling all emergency calls for all Fire Departments, Rescue, EMS Services, and Law Enforcement received at the Wicomico County 911 Center.
- Dispatch and Track Calls for Fire, Rescue, and EMS.
- Works in cooperation with Supervisors, Communications Operator II's, & other 911 Specialists.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate in an articulate manner by telephone and person-to-person.
- Ability to receive, retain, and transfer information, often during intense, stressful situations.
- Ability to speak clearly and articulate information over communications radios.
- Ability to utilize good spelling and grammar in written and electronic communications.
- Ability to become familiar with Communications Computer Systems for entering & retrieving information.
- Ability to multi-task, type with speed and accuracy, and work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to develop an excellent working knowledge of Wicomico County Geography & Landmarks.
- Ability to work part-time 24/72-hour, rotating shifts that include nights, weekends, and holidays, 365 days a year and call-backs at any given time for emergencies, disasters, and weather events.
- Ability to obtain a passing score on the department issued CritiCall Call taking test.
- Ability to successfully pass drug screening and background check.

Pay: $21.58 per hour
