Job Summary
Whittier Christian High School Title: High School Biology, Environmental Science, Anatomy Reports to: Principal Exempt Position: Full-time M - F (10 months) General Qualifications: Evidence of a mature personal Christian faith consistent with Whittier Christian High School’s Statement of Faith. Understanding of and a commitment to the distinctive qualities of Christian education as well as the mission of Whittier Christian High School. Possess a bachelor’s degree in Biology or a closely related field. California Teaching Credential in Biology Preferred, other Science Credentials Considered Three years teaching sciences preferred. Evidence of strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and technological skills. Primary Responsibilities: Demonstrate ability to inspire learning and cultivate relationships with students. Teach and instruct in various High School Science Courses Demonstrate knowledge of subject areas taught with Biblical worldview integration. Establish and maintain proper discipline in the classroom to create a classroom conducive to learning. Incorporate classroom technology to enhance instruction. Evaluate student progress and adhere to the school’s grading policies. Provide group and individual instruction to motivate students, and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities. Pursue a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations, and discussions. Incorporate project-based learning. Contribute to curriculum development and instructional improvement. Regularly review/update department and course curriculum guide to assure the fulfillment of proper instructional conducive to learning. Effectively manage Schoology according to school policies as a communication tool for students and parents. Maintain accurate records and submit on-time progress, quarter, and semester marks to the registrar.
