Tax Manager $150k

A growing boutique CPA firm in East Brunswick, NJ is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its team in a primarily review-focused capacity.

This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong CPA who enjoys reviewing complex tax returns but prefers limited client interaction and minimal team-management responsibilities. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement and the opportunity to join a collaborative firm that is continuing to expand.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed reviews of federal, state, and local tax returns.
• Review returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and closely held businesses.
• Identify technical issues, ensure accuracy, and confirm compliance with applicable tax regulations.
• Provide review notes and guidance to tax preparers when necessary.
• Research and resolve complex tax matters.
• Assist with tax planning and special projects as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of changes in federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Support the firm during peak tax seasons while maintaining quality and turnaround expectations.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• At least 5 years of public accounting tax experience.
• Strong experience reviewing complex tax returns.
• Broad, generalist tax experience across individuals and business entities.
• Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local taxation.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Comfortable working in a role with limited client interaction and little to no staff-management responsibility.
• Willingness to work within a growing boutique CPA firm.
• Ability to work on a hybrid schedule in the firm’s East Brunswick, NJ office.
