Position Overview
An established law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support its Litigation Department in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of law firm litigation paralegal experience and the ability to manage case documentation, court filings, discovery, and trial preparation with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Support attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, hearings, motions, and trials.
- Organize and maintain court documents, case files, pleadings, and other litigation materials.
- Draft and electronically file pleadings, motions, correspondence, memoranda, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
- Manage litigation calendars, docket entries, court dates, deadlines, and filing requirements.
- Prepare deposition summaries and assist with deposition preparation and coordination.
- Coordinate hearing, motion, and trial preparation, ensuring documents and materials are accurate and organized.
- Assist with paper and electronic discovery, including identifying relevant electronically stored information (ESI).
- Draft and distribute legal hold notices and coordinate with clients to preserve and collect relevant documents and ESI.
- Assist with processing, reviewing, coding, and organizing electronic discovery materials.
- Communicate with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and other stakeholders to support efficient case management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm.
- College degree and/or paralegal certificate required.
- Experience with electronic court filing systems, including CM/ECF and Washington, D.C. e-filing.
- Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, discovery, court filings, and trial preparation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with iManage and Relativity is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively to a collaborative legal team.
