Legal Assistant – Litigation Support

Duration: 3–6 Months

Hourly Pay: $30–$40/hr

Client: Leading Insurance Provider

Location: Remote – Supporting New York City Staff Law Office

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to provide litigation support. The ideal candidate will join a legal support team dedicated to personal injury defense litigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize appropriate software in a paperless environment to timely prepare, e-file, and serve correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, discovery, deposition notices, and other documents required by the New York State courts.
• Assist attorneys as needed in preparation for trial.
• Review electronic mail daily.
• Maintain electronic legal files.
• Process invoices for payment.
• Demonstrate a professional demeanor during every interaction with clients, opposing counsel, attorneys, teammates, Claim partners, and court personnel.
• Assist in overall office support as needed, including mail handling, filing in an electronic case management system, CD duplication, PDF creation and compilation, file conversion, etc.
• Maintain attorney calendars based on court notifications and depositions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary in an insurance defense law office, personal injury law office, or litigation firm.
• Strong working knowledge of New York State court systems and processes.
• Experience in personal injury work is strongly preferred.
• Trial preparation experience is a plus.
• Demonstrable experience in a high-volume litigation environment, with familiarity in document production, discovery preparation, Outlook calendar maintenance, and data maintenance.
• Strong multitasking, organizational, and time management skills.
• Proficiency with case management software.
• Strong familiarity with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Teams, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, especially when prioritizing work activities for multiple attorneys.
• Must be able to create and edit electronic documents in TIF, PDF, and JPG formats.
