Tax Partner – Public Accounting

Location: Wilmington, DE | Onsite / Hybrid Flexibility

Compensation: $150,000–$300,000, depending on experience

Whitman Advisory is partnering exclusively with an established public accounting firm on a confidential search for an experienced Tax Partner to support the continued growth of its Delaware practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior tax professional ready to step into a Partner-level leadership role, contribute to the firm's strategic direction, and play an important part in expanding an established practice.

The firm is open to considering candidates who may initially join at the Non-Equity Partner level, with a potential path toward equity ownership based on experience, performance, and long-term alignment.

Location & Work Arrangement

The position is based in the Wilmington, Delaware area, conveniently accessible from several parts of southeastern Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia, Chester County, and Delaware County.

The firm values in-person collaboration while recognizing the importance of flexibility. Hybrid arrangements may be considered depending on the candidate's experience, responsibilities, and overall fit.

For candidates located in Pennsylvania, a potential arrangement involving time between the Delaware and West Chester offices may also be discussed.

Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates, and relocation does not necessarily need to be within Delaware.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction to the tax practice.
• Oversee and review complex tax engagements involving privately held businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
• Review partnership, S Corporation, individual, trust, and estate tax returns.
• Deliver tax planning, consulting, and advisory services.
• Maintain and strengthen long-standing client relationships.
• Identify business development opportunities and contribute to practice growth.
• Mentor, coach, and develop tax professionals across multiple levels.
• Collaborate with Partners and senior leadership on firmwide initiatives.
• Contribute to the continued development and long-term success of the Delaware practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Active CPA license required.
• 10 years of progressive public accounting and tax experience.
• Strong technical expertise in tax compliance, planning, and advisory services.
• Experience serving privately held businesses and individual clients.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and staff development experience.
• Strong client relationship management and business development capabilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to operate effectively at the Partner level and contribute to the firm's strategic growth.
• Willingness to maintain a regular in-office presence, with potential flexibility based on mutual agreement.
