Commercial Litigation Associate
Location: New York, NY
Compensation: $180,000β$225,000 annually
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Litigation Associate with 5 years of substantive litigation experience handling sophisticated and complex commercial matters. This individual will work closely with partners while also independently managing litigation matters throughout all stages of the case lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring strong legal judgment, analytical capabilities, and the ability to deliver practical business-focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations for case development and litigation planning
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, Orders to Show Cause, and other legal documents
- Handle depositions, court appearances, hearings, arbitrations, trials, and appeals
- Communicate effectively with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and internal teams
- Stay current on legal developments, procedural updates, and industry trends
- Contribute to thought leadership initiatives through article drafting and support business development efforts
- Collaborate within a team-oriented environment while maintaining a proactive and solutions-driven approach
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission in both New York and New Jersey required
- 5 years of commercial litigation experience in a sophisticated legal environment
- Strong familiarity with New York CPLR, New Jersey Rules of Court, and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
- Experience with e-discovery and electronic document management systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management software
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
- Strong business acumen with the ability to provide practical and strategic legal guidance
