Direct Counsel represents a prestigious law firm seeking a Mid-Level Litigation Associate to join its New York office. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 5–7 years of commercial litigation experience who is looking to work on sophisticated litigation matters within a collaborative and fast-paced legal environment.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling all phases of general commercial litigation, including drafting pleadings and motions, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, and appearing in New York State and federal courts. Candidates with large law firm experience and exposure to real estate or finance-related disputes are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Handle general commercial litigation matters through all stages of litigation
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and discovery responses
- Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategy
- Take and defend fact and expert witness depositions
- Draft and argue substantive and procedural motions
- Manage discovery, case deadlines, and court filings in state and federal court
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and internal legal teams
- Assist with trial preparation and litigation case management
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- 5–7 years of general commercial litigation experience
- Experience practicing in New York State and federal courts
- Strong experience drafting and responding to pleadings and discovery
- Experience drafting and arguing motions
- Experience taking and defending depositions, including expert depositions
- Experience with real estate and finance-related litigation matters preferred
- Trial experience is a plus, but not required
- Large law firm experience strongly preferred
- Strong academic credentials and excellent research and writing skills
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of New York

Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $250,000 – $280,000 annually
