Job Description:
Our Lower School seeks an experienced, innovative classroom teacher to join our dynamic and collaborative faculty in the Lower School. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional learner to contribute to the Whitby School Vision and Mission through your commitment to our students, your colleagues and our community.
We are seeking a candidate excited to work as a classroom teacher in the first grade. The candidate should have a strong educational background in early childhood literacy instruction and experience with a structured literacy approach. The successful candidate will exhibit the highest standards of professionalism. Knowledge and experience of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program would be a distinct advantage.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Embracing and fulfilling Whitby’s mission statement- Has a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from an accredited college/university
- Experience with structured literacy approach to reading instruction
- Has a minimum of three years’ teaching experience
- Willingness to engage in professional development both inside and outside of the regular teacher calendar
- Excellent work ethic and strong communication skills
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background check
- Preferred IBPYP experience
