DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Close
- Support the Controller in preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries are completed on schedule.
- Review and consolidate results across business segments before submission to the Controller.
- Assist in preparation of reporting packages for management, lenders, and the Board.
- Manage daily accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Support and maintain the company’s accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal controls and GAAP.
- Research and document accounting treatment for complex matters (e.g., reserves, accruals, goodwill, stock-based compensation, earnouts).
- Ensure inventory is accurately costed and valued in accordance with GAAP, including oversight of standard costing, purchase price variances, overhead application, and excess & obsolete reserve calculations.
- Serve as primary liaison with external auditors during field work and testing, ensuring audit requests are completed timely and efficiently.
- Partner with the Controller to implement and maintain financial systems, reporting tools, and automation initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting and accounting processes.
- Support integration of acquisitions into accounting and reporting systems.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Act as second-in-command to the Controller, providing leadership continuity in their absence.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA license strong preferred.
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting or corporate accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting.
- Experience managing month-end close and preparation of consolidated financials.
- Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in distribution or automotive/manufacturing businesses;
- Experience with ERP systems (INFOR M3 or similar); advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
- Comfortable in a private equity–backed, fast-paced environment.
