About the Role

As a Buyer at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in supporting procurement operations by executing purchasing strategies, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring materials and services are secured at the best value, quality, and service levels. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, and enjoys building strong partnerships while driving cost-effective purchasing solutions. This is a full-time position located at our Farrell, PA plant.

What You’ll Do

• Assists in daily purchasing functions and supports multiple facilities as needed
• Converts purchase requisitions into purchase orders to support maintenance, repair, and operations activities
• Approves and processes auto-reorder inventory purchase requisitions on a daily basis
• Evaluates and selects critical MRO vendors while supporting annual vendor audits and certification requirements
• Negotiates MRO contracts, vendor-managed inventory (VMI), and consignment programs with external suppliers
• Manages office purchasing requirements, including office supplies, equipment, and cost-saving initiatives
• Issues purchase requisitions and purchase orders for annual framework agreements and approved capital projects
• Partners with accounts payable to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues
• Provides backup support for MRO Coordinators during absences
• Completes special projects and assignments as directed by upper management

Who You Are

• 5 years of purchasing or MRO experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Associate degree in Business, Purchasing, Marketing, or a related field preferred
• CPP or CPPM certification preferred
• Proficient in computer software applications; SAP experience preferred but not required
• Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization
• Exercises initiative, independent judgment, and accountability in managing projects and priorities
• Builds effective vendor and cross-functional relationships to support operational success

Physical Abilities

• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer
• Ability to occasionally move throughout office and plant environments
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and suppliers
• Ability to occasionally lift and move office materials or supplies as needed

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range for this position offers will be determined based on experience, education, skill set, and interview performance.
