What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Trail Maintenance Seasonal Help position at Whatcom County?
Whatcom County Parks & Recreation Department is hiring two to three employees to assist with trail maintenance at Parks throughout the County. Please apply if you are interested in working outside in our beautiful parks system this Summer!

Under the supervision of the Land Management Supervisor, this position will perform a variety of tasks at County Parks. A typical workday may include tasks like clearing vegetation along trails, repairing trail surfaces, and maintaining trail drainage features. The specific duties will vary by park location. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Interact with Park visitors.
- Maintain Park trails using a backpack blower, string trimmer, and various motorized tools and hand tools.
- Drive light truck or other Parks vehicle to transport supplies and equipment to and within parks.
- Assist with conservation and ecological restoration projects, including invasive species removal.
- Accurately collect and record project metrics.
LENGTH OF POSITION:
Parks Seasonal - Trails is hired to work approximately (4) months full-time work.
Parks Seasonal – Trails will work a schedule of four 10-hour days (Monday – Thursday), beginning the day at 7:00am.
Some weekend or holiday work may be required.

- Must have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment.
- Background check must meet County criteria
- Must be at least 18 years of age before you start work
Preferred:
- Prior parks experience
- Experience with hand and power tools, and equipment
- Ability to clean and repair tools and equipment
