Accounting Supervisor - Public Works

Whatcom County Public Works is recruiting for the new position of Accounting Supervisor. The Accounting Supervisor position leads the day-to-day operations of the Public Works accounting office.  The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.  Key duties include:

• Overseeing financial operations in a multi-fund environment.
• Assisting in the preparation of the department budget and monitoring expenditures.
• Providing monthly reporting 
• Assisting managers and supervisors with monitoring of budget to actual expenditures. 
• Monitoring and assuring compliance with grants and contracts.
• Preparing year end reporting to funding sources including State of Washington BARS
• Coordinating with the Finance Department on the annual audit
• Supervising Public Works accounting staff

• Unrepresented- Range 7 $6,410 - $9,308 per month

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration or a related field;
• 4 years of progressively responsible related accounting experience;
• 2 years supervisory experience;
• Completion of the course work requirement for a CPA is desirable, including 36 quarter hours of course credit in each of the following: (1) accounting and (2) business.
• Experience in local government and with an integrated financial management system is desirable.

Salary : $6,410 - $9,308
