What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraeducator - Classroom Assistant - Early Childhood Program position at Westshire Elementary?
We are seeking a well-versed and collaborative Paraeducator/Classroom Assistant to join our early childhood program serving children ages 3–5. The ideal candidate is passionate about early learning, enjoys working with young children, and contributes positively to a team-oriented, supportive classroom environment.
As a valued member of our faculty, you will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. You will help implement daily classroom activities, support student learning, and foster social-emotional growth.
The position is 3.5 hours/day (Mon-Fri).
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children ages 3–5 in an early childhood or preschool setting
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn Responsive Classroom techniques and philosophy
- Associate’s degree preferred, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment/approved training program
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Enthusiastic, patient, and committed to supporting young learners
- Assist in daily classroom instruction and activities
- Support children’s social, emotional, and academic development
- Help maintain a safe, positive, and structured learning environment
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement curriculum and classroom routines
- Encourage independence, curiosity, and positive behavior in students
