Job Description
This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of HVAC , refrigeration, electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment in multiple buildings at multiple campuses.
Essential Job Functions
- Ensure heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, refrigeration and boiler systems are operational on a daily basis.
- Initiate ordering parts utilizing appropriate processes to facilitate timely repair of malfunctioning equipment.
- Maintain heating and air-conditioning systems to control proper temperature and heat loss.
- Ensure all College boilers are operational each day.
- Install HVAC equipment and electrical components into equipment and ensure equipment meets regulatory requirements.
- Complete work assignments in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agency standards.
- Complete work orders and return them to the appropriate location within the Facilities & Grounds Department.
- Maintain an up to date inventory of all HVAC parts and equipment.
- Initiate and perform preventative maintenance as scheduled on all mechanical equipment at all College facilities.
- Respond to emergency situations that may arise at all College locations.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
- Maintain up-to-date with professional credentials best practices and current disciplines including continued educational requirements through certifications, seminars, training programs, etc.
- Maintain and develop work related knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the job through professional and cross training opportunities.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Perform additional grade level support duties as assigned.
EDUCATION :
- Associate degree in HVAC &R, Electrical, Plumbing or closely related field required.
- High school diploma or equivalent, along with industry standard certification and/or extensive work experience may be considered in place of Associate degree.
- Minimum of three years of work experience in a specific field of HVAC &R, electrical installation/repair or plumbing required.
- Prior work performance must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Current refrigerant transition and recovery certificate required.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain/provide the following clearances prior to hire:
- PA Child History clearance
- PA Criminal Record Check clearance
- FBI Federal Criminal History Record clearance
EXPERIENCE :
- Commercial HVAC experience preferred.
- Ability to stand & walk
- Ability to carry, push, pull, sit, crawl & stoop
- Ability to repeatedly kneel, bend and balance
- Ability to use both hands & both legs
- Ability to use legs/arms to climb
- Repetitive twisting or pressure involving wrists or hands
- Use of depth perception and color vision
