Major Accountabilities/Essential Job Duties
- Plan, direct and supervise Medical Records to ensure effective and efficient operations are in place
- Perform data analysis, trending and reporting as required by regulation; respond to requests for various types of resident statistics
- Continuously monitor medical records and health information for accuracy; provide documentation for Medicare/Medicaid and/or other insurance carriers as needed
- Apply proficient knowledge of medical coding as required
- Maintain and update census information in established software programs
- Act as a resource for staff in clinical, operational and administrative roles
- Assist with the implementation of health information technology to capture optimal standards of information management
- Respond to requests for resident information ensuring confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Order and organize office supplies and necessary forms for populating a resident chart
- Process charges for services and supplies according to established protocol
- Participate and comply with all internal (CQI) and external regulatory requirements
- Interview, hire, supervise, coach, evaluate, discipline and assist employees in setting and meeting performance goals.
- Develop and monitor performance and responsibilities of assigned staff
- Prepare department budgets, statistical monthly report, and budget variance report.
- Prepare specialized reports upon request
- Additional duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is primarily sedentary
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance, 26 with manual or mechanical assistance
- Detail oriented with ability to accurately translate patient information into medical code
- Proficient in the use of medical billing and coding systems applications
- Working knowledge of medical codes
- Intermediate to advanced computer skill
