What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Care attendant/assistant trainer position at Westchester K-9?
This position is open to kennel staff, dog handlers and dog trainers of all levels. Salary is dependent upon experience.
We are looking for dedicated, loyal and responsible dog caretakers who LOVE dogs and want to join our team! The ideal candidate will be confident around a large group of dogs and self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Must have common sense and the ability to follow a detailed schedule. Time management skills and punctuality are also necessary for the position. Please be drama free, and know how to communicate properly to peers and management.
We are open 7 days per week. Shifts available:
- Afternoon/nights (weeknights plus weekend nights) 3-7pm, 7-10pm or 3-10pm
- Mornings (weekdays plus weekends) 7am-11am, 11am-3pm or 7am-3
Responsibilities include:
- Taking dogs outside for bathroom and play time
- Assisting trainer and learning proper protocol
- Cleaning up inside and outside
- Preparing food, feeding dogs and providing water
- Brushing and bathing dogs
- Interacting with clients
- Cleaning kennels, washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, snow shoveling, laundry and general cleaning
- MUST have reliable transportation
- Punctual, reliable and able to work weekends and holidays as needed
- A valid driver’s license and a clean record for picking up and delivering dogs (in company vehicle), if hired for day shift.
- Great customer service skills
- Must live close to the Carmel/Mahopac area
