Brief Description

Position Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient,

trauma-informed medical and behavioral health services. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs,

collecting laboratory specimens, administering medications, documenting in the EMR, assisting

prescribers, and coordinating aspects of patient care in alignment with WHS, CCBHC, and regulatory

standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Support

  • Obtain patient medical information, vital signs, height, and weight; document accurately in the EMR.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist clinical staff and prescribers as directed.
  • Administer injectable medications per policy and scope of practice.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, including blood and urine; complete UDS collection.
  • Assist with nursing tickets, MAT workflows, and clinical procedures.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Record medical history, test results, and clinical updates in the EMR.
  • Obtain Board of Pharmacy (PDMP) information and complete medication-related documentation.
  • Obtain medication prior authorizations as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and WHS policy.
  • Follow all federal, state, and organizational regulations and safety standards.

Care Coordination

  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and provider instructions to patients.
  • Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule tests or admissions.
  • Support efficient clinic flow and positive client experience across assigned programs.

Professional Expectations

  • Demonstrate WHS mission, values, ethical standards, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Attend required trainings and maintain clinical competencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support clinical operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CMA certification required
  • Experience with injections, specimen collection, and EMR documentation preferred.
  • Prior medical or behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
