ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL VACANCY
POSITION: Building Maintenance and Operations Instructor
LOCATION: Lewis County High School
CERTIFICATION: Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate and/or qualify for a CTE endorsement per the WVDE CTE Endorsement and Testing Directory, CTE codes 7025 Building Maintenance; 7027 Building Maintenance and Operations; 7028 General Building Construction
Work Experience: Typically requires 4 years (8,000 clock hours) of satisfactory work experience in the trade, OR a Bachelor's degree plus 2 years (4,000 hours) of experience.
DUTIES: Prepare students for careers in the architecture and construction industry, specifically focused on maintaining and building structures. These programs often integrate into "Simulated Workplace" environments, mimicking real world construction and maintenance roles.
1. Develop and deliver lesson plans focused on basic construction safety standards; perform commercial cleaning operations; maintain flooring; and perform minor repairs to electrical, plumbing
2. Prepare students to be able to reading blueprints and construction drawings; measuring and cutting materials; building structures from the ground up (carpentry); installing drywall, siding, and roofing.
3. Instruct and emphasize safety, environmental regulations, and the ability to operate hand and power tools efficiently
