SUMMARY
The classroom associate teacher is responsible for working as a team member in providing a quality educational program for preschool children by supporting the classroom teacher in planning, assessing, and instructing students. The position includes assisting the classroom teacher in maintaining required records to ensure grant compliance and meet licensing guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works as a team member in providing a quality educational preschool program
- Assists in planning, implementing, and monitoring curriculum and assessment
- Supports children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts
- Excellent interpersonal skills with team and a growth mindset focus
- Work with individual and small groups of students
- Collects and documents data regarding student progress
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with the classroom teacher regarding student behavior and progress
- Follows Great Start Readiness Program Implementation Manual and supporting documents as defined by MDE.
- Adheres to WSESD Great Start Readiness Program Teacher Handbook and WSESD Policies and Procedures.
- Assist children with personal health care needs.
- Participates in trainings and ongoing professional development
- Perform other duties deemed necessary and appropriate as assigned
EDUCATION/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in early child education or child development, or equivalent, or valid classroom CDA credential and experience working with preschool children.
- Must be able to maintain appropriate program and grant documentation
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communication
- Ability to multitask and detail-oriented
- Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required
- Valid Driver License required
- Must be CPR and First Aid trained upon hire
