SUMMARY
Provide occupational therapy services to eligible special education students under the direction of an Occupational Therapist (OT).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct and consult service to special education students in accordance with legal authority and ethical standards, under the direction and procedural guidance of the OT.
- Monitor student developmental levels, functional abilities, capacities, and deficits as related to educational performance as a member of a multidisciplinary evaluation team, under the supervision of an OT.
- Write and implement performance objectives, based on instructional objectives as specified by an IEP team, in measurable terms, under the supervision of an OT.
- Maintain open communication among teachers, administration, support staff, and parents.
- Assists the OT in the accurate maintenance of records and documentation of therapy treatment procedures as prescribed for each student.
- Assists the OT with student evaluations and the development of progress reports related to the prescribed therapy treatment.
EDUCATION/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Michigan Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant/Licensed; Valid Drivers’ License required
- Presence on the job is an employee’s fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required
- Prefer knowledge and experience relating to an educational environment
