Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and vital signs to prepare patients for examinations or procedures
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as administering medications, phlebotomy, and basic life support during emergencies
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) by documenting patient encounters accurately and maintaining medical records in compliance with privacy regulations
- Support medical office operations through appointment scheduling, patient service coordination, and administrative support tasks
- Conduct basic physiology assessments and support diagnostic procedures like ICD coding and anatomy-related evaluations
- Monitor patient status during inpatient stays or outpatient visits, including vital signs and initial assessments in emergency medicine or trauma centers
- Ensure compliance with medical terminology standards and assist in medical documentation for billing and recordkeeping purposes
Experience
- Proven experience working in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, outpatient clinics, or inpatient settings with a focus on patient care delivery
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management
- Knowledge of pharmacology, medication administration protocols, and basic life support certification (BLS) required
- Prior involvement in medical assisting roles within Level I or Level II trauma centers, emergency medicine units, or PICU environments is highly desirable
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, ICD coding practices, and medical documentation standards
- Experience supporting diverse patient populations across geriatrics, internal medicine, or specialized units such as OR or Geriatrics is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings such as hospital environments or outpatient clinics while maintaining high-quality patient service
