WestCongress Insurance Services LLC is a Surplus Lines insurance producer with authority to bind commercial general and excess liability insurance policies on behalf of our affiliate, Champlain Specialty Insurance Company (AM Best A- VII).  


The Senior Account Executive is responsible for building relationships with wholesale producers of specialty casualty business to generate submission flow, for the evaluation, underwriting, quoting, and binding of new and renewal submissions, and for building, developing and managing a significant book of business within our markets. The successful candidate will have a minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years of experience with a carrier, MGA or other insurance producer underwriting general liability accounts in a specialty industry.  Established relationships in the wholesale broker community and a willingness to devote time and energy to growing external relationships while managing a high volume of submission flow is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage a significant portfolio of business, with accountability for growth, retention, and profitability across new and renewal accounts
  • Evaluate and select business opportunities by assessing risk characteristics, coverage structure, and pricing to support disciplined, profitable outcomes
  • Drive profitable production by balancing submission flow, pricing adequacy, and risk quality, with a focus on long-term portfolio performance
  • Develop and execute broker relationship strategies to generate high-quality submission flow and expand share of wallet with key partners
  • Serve as a primary relationship owner for brokers, maintaining strong, responsive communication and clearly articulating appetite, positioning, and decisions
  • Structure and negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing in alignment with risk profile, market conditions, and company objectives
  • Actively manage portfolio composition, identifying trends, concentrations, and opportunities, and taking action to optimize mix and performance
  • Maintain disciplined documentation and file quality, ensuring decisions and rationale are clearly recorded and aligned with internal guidelines and authority levels
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners  to inform strategy, improve outcomes, and enhance portfolio insights
  • Identify emerging risks and market trends, and adjust approach proactively to maintain competitiveness and profitability
  • Represent the organization in the marketplace through broker meetings, agency visits, and industry events to strengthen relationships and expand market presence
  • Support team development and performance by mentoring junior team members, sharing market insights, and reinforcing standards of excellence

Qualifications:

The individual in this position must have strong inter-personal communication skills and organizational skills. In addition, the individual must demonstrate the following skills:

  • Knowledge of standardized workflows, roles and responsibilities, and compliance requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of insurance coverages and general market conditions
  • Knowledge of combined coverage forms including Commercial General Liability forms
  • Knowledge of primary and/or excess general liability risk evaluation
  • Ability to organize work and perform within time constraints
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated management skills, flexibility to meet changing demands and strong decision-making ability
  • High proficiency in math, typing, Microsoft Word & Excel and other computer software & systems
  • Negotiation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
  • Ability and willingness to travel
