Champlain Insurance Group is a fast-growing, specialty, surplus and excess lines insurance enterprise. Which, through our affiliates, Champlain Specialty Insurance Company, WestCongress Insurance Services LLC, and WestCongress Risk Services LLC, offers primary and excess general liability insurance solutions and claims administration throughout the United States `We are in need of a Human Resource Generalist. The position is a fulltime commitment in our Manchester, NH office.
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a key point of contact for all HR-related matters, supporting employees and managers across the organization. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day HR operations, including employee relations, performance management, leave administration, onboarding, and policy guidance. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to balance compliance with a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Act as the primary contact for employee questions regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures
- Provide guidance and support to managers on employee-related matters
- Assist in resolving employee concerns with professionalism and confidentiality
- Promote a positive workplace culture and employee engagement
Performance Management
- Coordinate and support the annual performance review process
- Guide managers through review completion, documentation, and employee discussions
- Ensure consistency and fairness in evaluation practices
- Assist with performance improvement plans and ongoing feedback processes
Leave of Absence & Compliance
- Administer leave programs including FMLA and other leaves of absence
- Communicate requirements, documentation, and timelines to employees
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Support recruiting efforts including job postings, candidate communication, and interview coordination
- Assist with internship and early career program initiatives
- Lead onboarding processes, including new hire orientation and company-wide announcements
- Partner with hiring managers to ensure a smooth candidate and onboarding experience
HR Communications
- Draft and distribute company-wide communications, including new hire announcements, policy updates, and employee notices
- Create clear, professional, and engaging messaging for a variety of HR topics
- Support internal communication efforts to enhance transparency and engagement
Policy & Process Administration
- Interpret and apply company policies and procedures consistently
- Assist in updating HR policies and employee handbook as needed
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–5 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and compliance requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proactive, resourceful, and able to manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HRIS systems
- Familiarity with leave administration (FMLA, ADA, etc.)
- Experience supporting performance management processes
- Prior experience in a fast-paced or growing organization
