Weisinger Incorporated is hiring immediately for a Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) Specialist to support safe, compliant, and efficient operations across our Willis, San Antonio, and Tyler locations. We’re looking forward to adding the right professional to our team and are prepared to move quickly for the right candidate who can make an immediate impact.

Job Summary

The HSA Specialist is responsible for implementing and monitoring site‑specific health, safety, and environmental operations across multiple projects. As the primary point of contact for employees and supervisors on safety‑related matters, the position ensures effective application of the Weisinger Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) programs. This includes but not limited to managing risk activities, preparing required reports, conducting HSE compliance audits, supporting emergency response efforts, delivering training, developing HSE programs, and leading incident investigations. The role also provides essential resources, guidance, and information to Weisinger employees and leadership as needed.

Essential Functions, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Understands and uses personal protective equipment, safe work practices, environmental stewardship practices and teamwork
  • Conducts regular inspections, safety audits and hazard assessments of work locations work groups, projects and individuals at the assigned job location 
  • Identifies hazards and potential risks and assist operations staff with eliminating or mitigating those hazards
  • Advises jobsite managers on HSE-related matters
  • Conducts first level investigation of worksite accidents, injuries, prepares reports and assists with employee medical needs as required
  • Serves as core member of Weisinger’s emergency response team at the work site
  • Provides training and mentoring in HSE related topics to Weisinger staff
  • Identifies and appropriately complete open tasks within Weisinger’s policies and standards
  • Understands, embraces and integrates Weisinger corporate HSE values into everyday duties and responsibilities
  • Promotes a safe work environment for co-workers and clients through a personal commitment to work safe
  • Ability to effectively communicate HSE requirements and values to all levels of employees and client representatives
  • Ability to implement the principles and practices of occupational safety and health including environmental protection programs
  • Understanding of OSHA general industry and/or construction standards, EPA regulations and related state statutes/regulations or local ordinances
  • Ability to provide employee training using multiple delivery methods and media
  • Ability to conduct a “root cause” analysis
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communication to individuals and groups of various sizes who possess various language skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals in a wide range of situations, circumstances and settings as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce to achieve stated HSE objective
  • Ability to operate a computer effectively and the ability to use Microsoft Office products and other software applications effective to manage information
  • Ability to act appropriately in emergency situation
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check to Weisinger standard
  • Ability to interpret and effectively communicate technical documents such as Job Safety Analysis to workers, visitors and any other appropriate personnel
  • This position requires 50-75% travel, including occasional overnight stays, depending on project needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include working in another role or in another department as needed

Position Requirements

  • Successfully pass a background check, including an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required
  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug test and physical, depending on position
  • Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9 and E-Verify). The Company participates in E-Verify and will submit information from your completed Form I-9 to E-Verify to confirm your employment eligibility

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum 4 years prior experience that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job
  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • Associate Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field from an accredited institution preferred
  • Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • HSE related experience in the Oil & Gas or Water Well Drilling industry
  • Current OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • First Aid/CPR instructor certification preferred
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
  • Documented qualifications in the following areas: fall protection, hazard communication, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, accident investigation

Physical Demands

  • Ascending or descending stairs, ramps, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
  • Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces
  • Ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish task, particularly for long distances
  • Raising objects from a lower to higher position or moving object horizontally from a position to position
  • Perceiving size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly the fingertips
  • Those activities in which you must convey by spoken word detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds with or without correction, to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discrimination in sounds, such as when making fine adjustments on equipment or machines
  • Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
  • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
  • Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
  • Light to moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of primarily technical nature
  • Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials
  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting/production setting with adequate ventilation
  • Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)

The work environment may involve being in close proximity to moving mechanical parts and working in high or precarious locations where fall hazards exist. Duties may require exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and situations that carry a risk of electrical shock. The role may also involve working in loud environments, such as manufacturing areas or locations where large earth‑moving equipment is operating. This position typically operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or according to an agreed‑upon schedule. Occasional work outside of the standard schedule may be required based on business needs.
