The Field Safety Coordinator will play an active role in pre-project planning, pre-phase planning, and task-specific safety planning to ensure the highest standards of safety are upheld on every job site. Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Safety Director in the overall administration and management of the Company Safety and Health Program.
- Equip and motivate field staff so they can manage and implement the Company Safety and Health Program at the jobsite level.
- Conduct jobsite safety and health audits and follow up on hazards identified, working with superintendents/general superintendent to address unsafe conditions.
- Conduct training with associates (New Employee Orientation, OSHA, Equipment, etc.)
- Schedule, attend and close out jobsite OSHA Consultation visits.
- Review and approve subcontractor safety and health programs.
- Investigate incidents to determine appropriate actions and prevention measures.
- Conduct training for field and office Associates on construction safety and other related topics as required.
- Review and monitor subcontractor activities.
- Ensure corrective management action when required.
- Exhibit operational knowledge of construction OSHA, and other pertinent safety standards.
- Maintain records and reports in compliance with OSHA standards, and other pertinent safety standards.
- Distribute new and changing safety related information.
- Communicate with client/subcontractor safety personnel, union representatives, etc.
- Serve as a subject-matter resource on OSHA recordkeeping requirements for HR/Risk and project teams, providing guidance on reporting and documentation expectations.
- Represent the safety department by attending and contributing to corporate safety meetings, project team meetings, and subcontractor safety meetings.

Education and Training
- Bachelors degree in safety management, construction or related field preferred, relevant field experience will be considered.
- OSHA authorized training preferred.
Knowledge and Experience
- 5 years in safety, loss control, or commercial/residential construction related fields.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work with individuals in highly stressful situations.
- Skilled at finding common ground to settle disputes.
- Skilled at presenting information in an appropriate and helpful manner.
- Ability to negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups.
- Effective in a variety of formal presentation settings and one-on-one.
- Able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles.
- Computer proficiency.
Working Conditions
- This position requires approximately 70% of time spent in field. 30% of time spent in office.
- This position requires overnight travel to outstate locations. The percentage of time or days of travel will change with job locations but will be as high as 60%.
- Job performed in an office environment, frequent use of personal computer, iPad, copy machines and other office equipment. Job is also performed on construction sites that require protective equipment that conforms to OSHA regulations.
- Work is performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat/cold, near moving mechanical parts and includes occasional exposure to wet, humid and noisy conditions.
- Work will expose individual to heights.
