The Safety Coordinator will assist the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager with day-to-day HSE related activities. This includes regular and frequent inspection of equipment and facilities, and handling/disposition of hazardous waste.
What Will You Do?
- Monitor the company’s safety standards in accordance with OSHA and State Regulations
- Train and assist others (Area Managers, Coordinators, and employees to complete their Safety responsibilities (Inspections, Compliance, Follow safety rules, etc.)
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Work closely with production workers/supervisory personnel in evaluating production activities and creating a safe work environment, while looking for continuous improvement opportunities
- Assuring regulatory compliance in areas of policies, training, equipment and environmental control
- Evaluation and monitoring of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Assist with incident investigations to determine root causes and help develop corrective actions
- Investigate Near Misses with employees to determine root cause and report to Manager
- Walk the campus looking for any potential risk and work with local staff to mitigate the risk
- Coordination of emergency safety drills
- Monitor safety performance in the workplace and provide feedback to employees and management
- Provide safety orientation and training to new employees and ongoing staff as required
- Environmental audits
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…
- This position will require the ability to move around the production floor several hours each day.
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
- Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other related tasks in an office and industrial setting.
- Experiencein emergency response and/or experience in a formal safety rolein a manufacturing environment is required
- Strong communication and group presentation skills
- Able to maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required (strong excel skills)
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues
- Passion for Safety and willing to help others
- Environmental experience or willingness to learn
- Member of a Safety Committee
- Highschool diploma or GED
- 2-6years working in a safety / environmental role in a manufacturing environment
Pay Range: 59,600 - 78,600 annually
