Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Management:
- Oversee and maintain accurate payroll records for all associates, including base compensation, bonuses, overtime, deductions, benefits, and paid time off (PTO). Ensure all data is up-to-date and compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Timely and Accurate Payroll Processing:
- Ensure payroll is processed correctly and on schedule for all entities. Coordinate with relevant departments to verify timesheets, resolve discrepancies, and confirm approvals prior to processing.
- Payroll Deductions and Benefits Reconciliation:
- Review and reconcile all payroll deductions, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and other benefit-related transactions. Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure accuracy and resolve any inconsistencies.
- Union Payroll Processing:
- Maintain an understanding of union payroll requirements, including contract-specific pay rules, dues deductions, and benefit contributions.
- Multi-State Payroll Tax and Benefits Administration:
- Calculate and submit payroll taxes across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Manage benefit expenses and reporting, including contributions, reimbursements, and vendor payments.
- Associate Support:
- Provide responsive and friendly support to associates regarding payroll-related inquiries, including pay discrepancies, tax forms, and benefit deductions. Act as a reliable point of contact for payroll concerns.
- Confidentiality and Professionalism:
- Handle sensitive payroll and personal information with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism, maintaining trust and integrity in all interactions.
- Audit Support:
- Assist with external audits by preparing and providing necessary payroll documentation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with both the Finance and HR teams to ensure seamless operations, effective communication, and alignment on payroll and benefit processes.

Education & Training
- Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Relevant experience in payroll will also be considered in lieu of formal education.
- 7-10 years of payroll experience (construction industry experience a plus!).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CMiC is a bonus.
- Detail-oriented and accurate; you catch what others might miss.
- Service-focused, ensuring every associate receives timely and helpful support.
- Team-oriented, building strong, trusted relationships across departments.
- Calm under pressure, able to meet deadlines and stay composed during busy periods.
- Analytical, always looking for ways to improve and streamline processes.
- Strong communicator, both written and verbal.
