What are the responsibilities and job description for the Studio Director position at WebsEdge?
We’re looking for a freelance Studio Director and Editor to work with us to deliver Agents of Tech from our Washington DC studio – a show focusing on the tech shaping the future of our world. You’ll work with us to direct our hosts and production team for multi-camera, in person and remote interviews from our Georgetown studio, as well as to edit each complete 25-minute show.
About us
WebsEdge is a knowledge-driven, next generation media company. We produce Agents of Tech, an interview-driven online show that asks big questions of some of the biggest names in tech, from tech giants to Nobel prize winners.
Our big focus at the moment is Artificial Intelligence, looking at how it will reshape the economy, energy, climate and geopolitics through a rigorous, journalistic lens. Head to our website to watch and find out more: https://agentsoftech.ai/
Structurally, each episode of Agents of Tech centers around one key question or topic, discussion between our three hosts, with three different perspectives, and an in-depth interview with a high-profile guest interviewee.
The role
We have a strong editorial team, great hosts, and production staff based across the US and UK, but are looking for someone to bring it all together to ensure each episode is as compelling, as visually engaging, and as impactful as possible.
We currently have a strong concept for the show, visually, thematically and structurally, over 1.5 million views, and a highly mobilized team from guest booking to social media to take it to the next level of visibility and impact – but at the same time are open to ideas on optimizing and improving the show on a production level.
We want someone ready to take a brief and overall structure from our Executive Producer, and take ownership of delivering a high-quality finished product from there - ensuring all pieces are in place to make for an engaging 25 minutes of impactful television.
In this role you will:
- Meet with our editorial team to be briefed on the structure and topic of each episode, and ensure you understand where each episode needs to go.
- Oversee set up, direction and recording of each show with the ability to refine and define shot choices and overall structure of each conversation.
- Deliver finished edits of each episode within a week of each shoot – incorporating premade graphics, B-roll, and taking on several rounds of feedback from the editorial team.
Your skills and experience
We want someone with multi-camera studio show or high-end podcast experience who’s ready to make Agents of Tech into a world-leading, next generation TV show.
To take up the role you’ll need to:
- Have examples of similar studio-based shows that you’ve directed.
- Be a great communicator ready to take and provide robust direction on what’s needed to make each episode work.
- Be able to energise and motivate our studio team, as well guests, ready to create great TV.
- Have great technical skills when it comes to multi-camera recording - able to set up, troubleshoot, monitor and control multiple Sony cameras and mic feeds, as well as on screen virtual guests via Riverside.fm.
- Understand and interpret the vision of the show for all contributors and team members.
We’re looking for a strong collaborator – able to work with us to get to the bottom of what’s working and what’s not, and iterate and improve the show as it develops.
We’re looking to offer $1500 per filming day, typically aiming to record 3-4 episodes per day, and $500 per edit, including revisions – but are open to other payment structures if you have a preference. We expect to record up to 30 episodes on 2026.
If you’re a Studio Director but not an Editor, and have a great Editor you could work with, we’re also open to having multiple people fill the role.
Please reach out with your resume, examples of your work, a covering letter with a little about why you would suit this project, and any questions.
Salary : $500 - $1,500
