Job Description
The Department of Child and Family Studies at Weber State University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The tenure-track position includes a full-time undergraduate/graduate teaching load of 12 hours per semester in Family Science, Family Life Education, Human Development, and Marriage and Family Therapy with expectations of publication, student advising, and participation in departmental, university, and community committees. Preference will be given to applicants with clinical training and work experience.
Job Duties
Duties include teaching a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, which may include GenEd Courses and Family Studies courses, publishing research, serving on multiple committees, advising and mentoring students, and developing a new program in graduate studies in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Required Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in either Marriage and Family Therapy, Family Studies, Family Science, Human Development and Family Studies, or closely related field (a strong ABD may be considered if degree completed by August 21, 2026).
- The candidate must be able to teach in support of the department curriculum designed around the NCFR content areas and criteria for training Certified Family Life Educators and provide documentation of competencies as they relate to the 10 CFLE content areas.
- The candidate must be able to teach in support of the department curriculum, designed around the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists in training graduate students (AAMFT).

- Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate or graduate students.
- A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with strong evidence of commitment to providing quality service.
- A therapist with a background in mental health and/or professional practices working with infants through adults.
- A degree in Family Science and/or Education.
- A background in trauma-informed teaching and education in multiple areas.
- A willingness to teach general education courses and collaborative WSU/Honors courses.
- Related community service and experience with underrepresented groups is desired.
- A demonstrated research agenda and interest in involving students in research activities.
- A track record of scholarly publication and the potential for grant procurement are desired.
